Jennifer Kaczmarek has Love for Alyssa

Love For Alyssa is a non-profit organization designed to bring together a community of people in hopes of helping a little girl in need. Alyssa Jadyn Hagstrom was born with a condition called Arthrogryposis which has left her with no use of her legs, arms, and limited use of her fingers. Our goal is to provide funds which will assist in providing her with a wheelchair assessable van, therapy, equipment, and long term personal care.

Jennifer Kaczmarek, founder of loveforalyssa.com talks about Alyssa, her journey, and the project:

"I first met Alyssa soon after her 5th birthday. We were introduced through a previous project I was doing, and she was my subject. I was told by several people, “Wait ’till you met her.” As soon as we met I knew what they were speaking about. For someone so young, she possesses an extraordinarily special spirit. She pulled me in right away.

"When the project was done, I felt compelled to do something more. I approached her father with the idea of allowing me to continue photographing her with the hope of raising money on her behalf. Daune Hagstrom is a single father raising two girls, and doing the best that he can. Alyssa is now 7, and Alexxis is 9 years of age. Duane is a teacher at Flagler High School in Palm Coast, FL. Having made a promise to her father that I would try my best to help, I could not let them down. Over the course of almost two years, it has been weighing heavily on my mind on how I would be able to pull this off. Now over the course of the last few months, the ideas and connections have presented themselves one after another, and the time has finally arrived. I am taking the leap of faith and putting one foot in front of the other.

"Our hope is that this project will inspire people to come together to help one of their own. This visual diary is a window into her world, their world. I believe photography allows people to connect in a way they otherwise could not. A single image can speak magnitudes about what life is like for others. On a greater level, we hope this project will help people connect; to be inspired by the idea of what an impact we can make on someone else’s life. We hope you will join us in making a difference.

"As Alyssa faces the many challenges ahead, I hope this project helps in keeping that amazing spirit of hers alive; a gift she may be able to pass on to others.

"A quote was given to me by my friend, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Now that is a great quote. (Gandhi)

"Thank you,"
